Shiv with Parvati riding on Nandi bull depicted on a cotton cloth done in Pichwai style of painting which is one of the ancient form of painting and is found in holy town Nathdwara in Rajasthan. These painting were usually hung behind the image of the God in the temples of this town and was also used to narrate the tales of various gods to their devotees.

Pichhwai art form depicts the stories from the life of Lord Krishna. They exist in the holy town of Nathdwara in the Rajasthan. Krishna is shown in different moods, body postures, and attire more commonly found on a cloth or paper. It is a very old form of art passed on from generation to generation and it has a very devotional theme towards Lord Krishna. It is no wonder that many times a Pichhwai painting is a group effort, where several skillful painters work together under surveillance of a master painter. It is small form of painting and creation on the piece of cloth which hangs behind Srinathjis idol at Nathdwara temple.
