The Kutch Embroidery is the unique handicraft and textile of the tribal community of Kutch District in Gujarat, India. The embroidery, practiced normally by women is generally done on fabrics of cotton, in the form of a net using cotton or silk threads. This types of threads are used for floss silk and other varieties. Other essential embroidering tools and material are needle, mirrors, and sequins. Embroidery is done with the fabric fixed on an adjustable embroidery frame. The procedure adopted for stitching with needles is by inserting them into the fabric and bringing it up in one motion and then pulling the thread. The best quality embroidery is known as "aari" which was done earlier for the royal family and well to do families.

All fabrics in cotton, silk or wool benefit from gentle washing with soft detergents and drip-drying as opposed to machine wash. Often the fibres are delicate or the embroidery and stitching done by hand and not meant for tumble-dry. Colours retain their charm when cares for and not places in direct sunlight. Airing from time to time always helps as it keeps mildew at bay. Store in a dry cupboard and wear well to pass on to generation Next!
