The world famous Banarasi Brocades is called by the name kinkab in Varanasi and is crafted by high-quality weaving using gold and silver threads or silk threads . The most common motifs uses are scroll patterns and butidars designs. The other designs are Jewelry designs, birds, creepers, animals, flowers, paisley motifs and Hindu religious and Mughal motifs. When a Gold ornamentation is done on a silver background it is called ganga-jamuna in the local language. The naqshaband draws the design on paper and then This design is then woven on a small wooden frame to form a grid of warp and weft and then The requisite number of warp threads and the extra weft threads are woven on the loom. The famous tissue sari of Varanasi is very delicate, combining the use of gold and silver metallic threads.
Varanasi also Known as Banaras or Kashi is one of the oldest cities of India, and has over 100,000 weavers the traditional ' Banarasi' weave is the pride of weaving in India and is famously known for its additional ornamentation also known as additional weft upon the regular weave. We at Serajia Sarees try to promote the uniqueness of Banarasi Saree which also represents the Ganga Jamuna culture of Hindus and Muslims in this holy city.

All Sarees deserve respectful care and they in turn keep generations of a family looking great. Dry clean or sponge-clean and always remove stains as soon as possible to keep them from setting in. Traditionally all Indian sarees were hand washed in natural detergents found locally in various regions and washed in running clear water. However, the detergents used these days are too harsh and not suitable for use on potential heirlooms. Colours can fade or run. Dry clean only.
